Instructions
1. Park the truck on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Chock the wheels.
3. Raise the rear of the truck with a floor jack and support it on jack stands.
4. Remove the wheels.
5. Locate the differential cover on the bottom of the differential housing.
6. Remove the differential cover bolts and remove the cover.
7. Drain the differential fluid into a drain pan.
8. Remove the ring gear bolts and remove the ring gear.
9. Use a pry bar and hammer to remove the pinion nut.
10. Pull the pinion yoke out of the differential housing.
11. Remove the pinion bearing and seal.
12. Remove the differential assembly from the axle housing.
Tips
* When removing the differential cover bolts, be careful not to drop them into the differential housing.
* When draining the differential fluid, make sure to catch all of the fluid in a drain pan.
* When removing the ring gear bolts, be careful not to drop them into the differential housing.
* When using a pry bar and hammer to remove the pinion nut, be careful not to damage the threads on the pinion shaft.
* When removing the pinion bearing and seal, be careful not to damage the bearing or the seal.
