* The negative terminal is always disconnected first, followed by the positive terminal. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the terminals in place.
* Be careful not to touch the positive and negative terminals together, as this can cause a spark.
2. Remove the battery hold-down clamp.
* Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the nut that holds the clamp in place.
* Remove the clamp and set it aside.
3. Lift the battery out of the car.
* Be careful not to drop the battery, as it is heavy.
* Set the battery aside in a safe place.
4. Install the new battery.
* Place the new battery in the car, being careful not to drop it.
* Connect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
* Tighten the nuts on the terminals until they are snug.
5. Reinstall the battery hold-down clamp.
* Place the clamp over the battery and secure it with the nut that you removed earlier.
* Tighten the nut until it is snug.
6. Test the battery.
* Turn on the ignition and check the battery gauge. The gauge should read between 12 and 14 volts.
* If the gauge does not read between 12 and 14 volts, the battery may not be properly connected or may be defective.
