Gather your materials
You will need:
- Transmission fluid (check your owner's manual for the correct type and amount)
- A funnel
- A wrench
- A dipstick
- Rags
Prepare your vehicle
Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
Engage the parking brake.
Locate the transmission fluid dipstick.
It is usually located in the engine compartment near the transmission.
Remove the dipstick and check the fluid level.
The fluid should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
Add transmission fluid
If the fluid level is low, use the funnel to add enough fluid to bring it to the "full" mark on the dipstick.
Replace the dipstick and the transmission fluid cap.
Test drive your vehicle
Drive your vehicle for a few minutes to circulate the new transmission fluid.
Check the transmission fluid level again and add more fluid if necessary.
