1. Open the hood of your vehicle.
Locate the hood release lever inside the driver’s footwell, near the door. Pull the lever to release the hood.
2. Locate the battery cover.
The battery is located in the engine compartment, on the passenger side of the engine.
The battery cover will be black and rectangular. It is secured with two plastic screws.
3. Remove the battery cover screws.
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two plastic screws that secure the battery cover.
4. Remove the battery cover.
Once the screws are removed, you can lift the battery cover off.
5. Locate the battery.
The battery will be located underneath the battery cover.
It will be black in color and have two terminals, a positive terminal (+) and a negative terminal (-).
6. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
First disconnect the negative terminal (-) and remember, never let the wrench touch both terminals at once.
Note: If you are going to be working on your car for an extended period of time, it is recommended to disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent the car from starting accidentally.
