Tools and Materials Needed
* New drive belt (Saab part number 9192175 or equivalent)
* 10mm wrench
* 17mm wrench
* 30mm socket
* Ratchet
*Breaker bar
Instructions
1. Park the car in a safe location and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood.
3. Locate the drive belt. It is located on the front of the engine, running between the crankshaft pulley and the water pump pulley.
4. Loosen the 10mm bolt that holds the tensioner pulley in place.
5. Use the 30mm socket to rotate the tensioner pulley counterclockwise until the belt is loose.
6. Remove the old belt from the pulleys.
7. Check the pulleys to make sure they are not damaged. Replace the pulleys if they are damaged.
8. Install the new belt on the pulleys, starting with the crankshaft pulley.
9. Rotate the tensioner pulley clockwise until the belt is tight.
10. Tighten the 10mm bolt that holds the tensioner pulley in place.
11. Close the hood.
12. Start the engine and check the belt for proper tension.
Tips
* If you are having difficulty rotating the tensioner pulley, you may need to use a breaker bar.
* Be careful not to overtighten the 10mm bolt that holds the tensioner pulley in place. This can damage the bolt or the tensioner pulley.
* It is always a good idea to replace the drive belt when you replace the water pump. The drive belt is likely to be damaged if the water pump fails.
