1. Gather your materials. You will need:
- New oil filter (Honda part number 15410-393-015 or equivalent)
- New crush washer for the oil drain plug (Honda part number 94109-12000 or equivalent)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
2. Warm up the engine. This will help the oil to drain more easily.
3. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down slightly.
4. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug, which is located on the bottom of the engine.
5. Loosen the oil drain plug with the wrench. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
6. Allow the oil to drain completely.
7. Replace the crush washer on the oil drain plug.
8. Tighten the oil drain plug.
9. Remove the oil filter. The oil filter is located on the right side of the engine, just below the cylinder head. Use a wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
10. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
11. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine. Tighten the oil filter until it is snug.
12. Add new oil to the engine. The oil fill plug is located on the top of the engine, just behind the cylinder head. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in the owner's manual.
13. Check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the oil dipstick.
14. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
15. Check for leaks. Look under the motorcycle for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
