A 1987 Yamaha TT225 has a drain plug located on the bottom of the crankcase, near the rear of the engine. It is a 17mm bolt.
Prepare the bike for draining.
- Put the bike on the centerstand.
- Collect used oil in a drain pan of at least 2 quart capacity.
- Allow the engine to cool. Hot oil can cause severe burns.
Drain the oil.
- Place the oil pan under the drain plug.
- Use a 17mm box-end wrench to loosen the oil drain plug.
- Allow the oil to drain completely.
Reinstall the drain plug.
- Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely with a 17mm wrench.
- Make sure the drain plug is reinstalled properly to avoid leaks.
Dispose of the used oil properly.
- Take used oil to a recycling center or auto parts store for proper disposal.
