- SAE 10W-40 motor oil that meets the JASO MA specification
- SAE 20W-50 motor oil in high-temperature areas with minimum temperatures greater than 104°F (40°C)
- SAE 5W-30 or SAE 5W-40 motor oil in low-temperature areas when minimum temperatures are below 41°F (5°C)
Honda also recommends using the following specific motor oils in a Honda Shadow 750 Motorcycle:
- Honda GN4 10W-40 Motorcycle Engine Oil
- Honda HP4S 10W-30 Synthetic Motorcycle Engine Oil
- Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 Motorcycle Engine Oil
Note: The SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) viscosity grade of a motor oil indicates its thickness or flow resistance at different temperatures. The lower the number before the "W," the thinner the oil will be at low temperatures. The higher the number after the "W," the thicker the oil will be at high temperatures.
