You won't need to necessarily replace the entire oil pan or front cover, but the internal components related to the crank sensor's location will be incompatible. It's a much more significant undertaking than simply swapping a sensor. You'd essentially be talking about a complete engine swap, a very major job.
If your crank sensor is faulty, replace it with the correct part for your specific Geo Metro 1.0L engine year and model. Don't try to substitute an entire engine system designed differently.
