How are the cylinders numbered on a 472 cadillac engine?

The cylinders on a Cadillac 472 engine are numbered sequentially from the front of the engine (the timing chain side) to the rear, starting from the passenger side. Therefore:

* 1 is the front passenger side cylinder.

* 2 is next to #1, moving towards the rear on the passenger side.

* 3, 4, 5, and 6 continue in order on the passenger side, with #6 being the rearmost passenger side cylinder.

* 7 is the front driver side cylinder.

* 8 is next to #7 moving towards the rear on the driver side.

* 9, 10, 11, and 12 continue in order on the driver side, with #12 being the rearmost driver side cylinder.
