* Ignition System Issues: Worn spark plugs, damaged spark plug wires, a failing ignition coil, or problems with the distributor (if equipped) are common culprits. A misfire in one or more cylinders will cause the light to blink.

DO NOT IGNORE A BLINKING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Continuing to drive the truck could cause catastrophic engine damage, potentially leading to a costly repair or even a need for engine replacement.
What you should do:
1. Stop driving the vehicle immediately if possible. Driving with a severe misfire can damage the catalytic converter.
2. Get the trouble codes read: A scan tool (available at many auto parts stores) can read the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored by the onboard computer. These codes will point to the likely cause(s) of the problem.
3. Have a qualified mechanic diagnose and repair the problem: Based on the trouble codes and a visual inspection, a mechanic can identify and fix the underlying issue.
Ignoring the blinking check engine light can lead to very expensive repairs down the line. Get it checked out as soon as possible.
