How do you stop the sliding door on a 96 Ford Windstar from rattling?

Tools and Equipment you will need:

1. 3/16” socket

2. Long 3/16” socket extension

3. Ratchet

4. Replacement Plastic Slide Door Lock Strike

Steps to Stop the Sliding Door from Rattling:

Step 1: Open the sliding door and locate the strike plate on the door frame.

There will be 3 3/16” bolts holding the strike plate in place.

Step 2: Remove the three bolts and place them in a safe place, being careful not to lose them.

Step 3: Remove the strike plate from the door frame. Inspect the strike plate for damage or excessive wear. If it has been damaged or broken, replace it.

Step 4: Put a dab of silicone sealant around the screw holes on the strike plate.

Step 5: Align the holes and bolt it back onto the door frame. Tighten bolts.

Note: If the door is still rattling, then adjust the door by 1/4” at a time.
