2. Check the brake light bulbs. If the brake light switch is working properly, the next step is to check the brake light bulbs. The brake light bulbs are located in the rear of the vehicle, behind the taillights. To check the brake light bulbs, turn on the headlights and then press the brake pedal. If the brake lights do not come on, the brake light bulbs may be burned out and will need to be replaced.
3. Check the brake light wiring. If the brake light switch and brake light bulbs are working properly, the next step is to check the brake light wiring. The brake light wiring is the electrical wiring that connects the brake light switch, the brake light bulbs, and the battery. To check the brake light wiring, visually inspect the wiring for any damage or corrosion. If you find any damage or corrosion, you will need to repair or replace the wiring.
4. Check the fuse for the brake lights. The fuse for the brake lights is a small, cylindrical fuse located in the fuse box. The fuse box is usually located under the hood of the vehicle, near the battery. To check the fuse for the brake lights, remove the fuse and inspect it. If the fuse is blown, it will need to be replaced with a new fuse of the same amperage.
5.Check Brake Fluid
Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that transfers force from the brake master cylinder to the brake calipers and wheel cylinders. If the brake fluid level is low, the brakes will not work properly. Check the brake fluid level and add more fluid if necessary.
