1. Park your truck in a safe location. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located under the truck, near the rear axle. It is usually mounted on the frame rail.
3. Disconnect the fuel lines. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel line nuts and disconnect the lines from the fuel pump. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
4. Remove the electrical connector. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
5. Remove the fuel pump mounting bolts. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel pump mounting bolts.
6. Lower the fuel pump. Carefully lower the fuel pump from the truck.
7. Remove the old fuel pump. Use a pry bar to remove the old fuel pump from the fuel tank.
8. Install the new fuel pump. Place the new fuel pump into the fuel tank. Make sure that the fuel pump is properly seated.
9. Replace the fuel pump mounting bolts. Use a wrench to tighten the fuel pump mounting bolts.
10. Reconnect the electrical connector. Reconnect the electrical connector to the fuel pump.
11. Reconnect the fuel lines. Reconnect the fuel lines to the fuel pump. Make sure that the fuel lines are properly tightened.
12. Start your truck. Start your truck and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, you have successfully replaced the fuel pump.
