Where is coolant thermostat 7.3 liter diesel?

1994-2003 7.3L Powerstroke Coolant Thermostat Location:

The coolant thermostat is located on the passenger side of the engine, just behind the alternator. It is housed in a black plastic housing with two coolant hoses connected to it.

Step-by-Step Removal Instructions:

1. Park your truck on a level surface and allow the engine to cool down completely.

2. Locate the coolant thermostat housing on the passenger side of the engine.

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical accidents.

4. Drain the coolant from the radiator by opening the petcock valve located at the bottom of the radiator.

5. Once the coolant has drained, use a wrench to loosen and remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing in place.

6. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the engine compartment.

7. Remove the thermostat housing from the engine block and take out the old thermostat.

8. Inspect the thermostat for any signs of damage or wear and replace it if necessary.

9. Reinstall the thermostat housing and tighten the bolts securely.

10. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

11. Refill the coolant reservoir with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water.

12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the coolant.

13. Check for any leaks and make sure the coolant level is correct.

Note: Be careful not to overtighten the bolts holding the thermostat housing in place as this can damage the threads.
