To remove the shift control lever on a 960 Volvo, follow these steps:

1. Park your car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.

2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.

3. Open the hood of your car.

4. Locate the shift control lever. It is located on the left side of the engine compartment, near the firewall.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the shift control lever.

6. Use a 13mm wrench to loosen the two bolts that hold the shift control lever in place.

7. Remove the bolts and lift the shift control lever out of the car.

8. Install the new shift control lever in the reverse order of removal.

9. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.

10. Reconnect the electrical connector to the shift control lever.

11. Close the hood of your car.

12. Start the engine and check that the shift control lever is working properly.
