Oil change on suzuki bolvard s40?

Materials Needed

* New oil filter (check your owner's manual for the correct size)

* New crush washer (if your drain plug has one)

* Oil drain pan

* Funnel

* Wrench

* Rags

Instructions

1. Warm up your engine for a few minutes. This will help to thin the oil and make it easier to drain.

2. Park your bike on a level surface and turn off the engine.

3. Locate the oil drain plug. It is usually located on the bottom of the engine.

4. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.

5. Use the wrench to loosen the drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.

6. Allow the oil to drain completely. This may take a few minutes.

7. Replace the crush washer on the drain plug.

8. Screw the drain plug back in and tighten it securely.

9. Locate the oil filter. It is usually located near the top of the engine.

10. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.

11. Remove the old oil filter and discard it.

12. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

13. Screw the new oil filter on by hand until it is snug. Do not over-tighten the oil filter.

14. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add oil slowly. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.

15. Check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the oil dipstick.

16. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.

17. Check for leaks. Look under the bike for any drips of oil.

Tips

* If you are not comfortable changing the oil yourself, you can have it done by a professional.

* Be sure to dispose of the old oil and filter properly.
