2. Locate the steering box. The steering box is located on the front of the vehicle, behind the engine. It is a round, metal box with a black cap.
3. Remove the oil cap. Use a wrench to loosen the oil cap and remove it.
4. Add oil to the steering box. Use a funnel to add SAE 90 hypoid gear oil to the steering box. Add oil until the level reaches the bottom of the oil filler hole.
5. Replace the oil cap. Tighten the oil cap until it is snug.
6. Start the engine and run it for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the steering box.
7. Check the oil level again. After running the engine for a few minutes, check the oil level in the steering box. If the oil level is low, add more oil until it reaches the bottom of the oil filler hole.
