- New oil filter (check your owner's manual for the correct size)
- New oil (check your owner's manual for the correct type and amount)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
- Safety glasses
2) Warm up the engine.
- This will help the oil to drain more easily.
3) Locate the oil drain plug.
- It is usually located on the bottom of the engine.
- Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.
4) Remove the oil drain plug.
- Use the wrench to loosen the drain plug.
- Be careful not to drop the drain plug into the oil pan.
- Allow the oil to drain completely.
- Re-tighten the oil drain plug.
5) Locate the oil filter.
- It is usually located near the top of the engine.
6) Remove the oil filter.
- Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter.
- Be careful not to spill any oil.
- Discard the old oil filter.
7) Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
- This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
8) Screw on the new oil filter.
- Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug.
- Do not over-tighten the oil filter.
9) Add new oil to the engine.
- Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine.
- Check the oil level using the dipstick.
10) Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
- Check for any leaks.
11) Turn off the engine and re-check the oil level.
- Add more oil if necessary.
