What are names for the four strokes of an engine?

1. Intake stroke: The piston moves down in the cylinder, creating a vacuum that draws air and fuel (in gasoline engines) or air (in diesel engines) into the cylinder.

2. Compression stroke: The piston moves up in the cylinder, compressing the air and fuel mixture (or air in a diesel engine).

3. Power stroke: The spark plug ignites the air and fuel mixture in a gasoline engine, or the high pressure and temperature in a diesel engine ignites the fuel, causing the mixture to expand rapidly and drive the piston down in the cylinder.

4. Exhaust stroke: The piston moves up in the cylinder, pushing the exhaust gases out of the cylinder and through the exhaust valve.
