* A spark plug wrench
* A flat-blade screwdriver
* A Phillips-head screwdriver
* A feeler gauge
* A torque wrench
Step 1: Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head.
Step 2: Turn the engine over until the piston is at top dead center (TDC). You can do this by inserting a finger into the spark plug hole and feeling for the piston. When the piston is at TDC, the valves will be closed.
Step 3: Loosen the locknut on the valve rocker arm.
Step 4: Insert the feeler gauge between the valve stem and the rocker arm. The clearance should be .006 inches (0.15 mm).
Step 5: If the clearance is not correct, turn the adjusting screw on the rocker arm until the clearance is correct.
Step 6: Tighten the locknut on the valve rocker arm.
Step 7: Repeat steps 3-6 for the other valve.
Step 8: Replace the spark plug.
