1. Remove the derby cover if its a wet primary chaincase.
2. Remove both drain plugs using a 1/2 inch socket wrench or Allen wrench. The bottom plug is the transmission case drain.
3. Replace both drain plugs.
4. Remove the transmission fill plug.
5. Add the specified amount of transmission fluid (check your owner’s manual for the exact amount).
6. Replace the transmission fill plug.
For dry primary chaincase
1. Loosen the oil tank cap
2. Remove the primary cover to access the primary clutch area.
3. Check the oil level. If the oil is below the weep hole on the bottom of the primary drive housing, then you need to add oil to the primary system.
4. Add oil to the primary reservoir in the oil tank using a funnel until it trickles out of the weep hole.
5. Replace the inspection cover and tighten the bolts by hand.
6. Tighten the inspection cover bolts to the specified torque.
7. Start the motorcycle and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the oil.
8. Recheck the oil level and add more oil if necessary.
