The camshaft position sensor is located in the front timing chain cover. It is a small, cylindrical sensor with a black plastic connector. To access the sensor, you will need to remove the upper timing chain cover.
Here are the steps to remove the upper timing chain cover:
1. Drain the coolant from the engine.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Remove the upper radiator hose.
4. Remove the fan shroud.
5. Remove the serpentine belt and tensioner.
6. Remove the water pump pulley.
7. Remove the harmonic balancer bolt and remove the harmonic balancer.
8. Loosen the upper timing chain cover bolts and remove them.
9. Remove the camshaft position sensor bolts.
10. Remove the camshaft position sensor.
Installation
Install in reverse order of removal. Be sure to tighten all bolts to the proper torque specifications.
NOTE
Before starting the engine, be sure to reconnect the battery and add coolant to the engine.
