Tools Needed
- Oil drain pan
- Wrench
- Funnel
- Oil filter wrench
- New oil filter (Check your owner's manual for the correct type.)
- New oil (Check your owner's manual for the correct type and amount.)
1. Park your vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Locate the oil filter housing on the passenger side of the engine block, near the top. It is a black cylindrical housing with an oil filter cap on top.
3. Place an oil drain pan under the oil filter housing to catch any oil that may spill.
4. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter cap and remove it.
5. Remove the old oil filter from the housing. Be careful not to spill any oil.
6. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
7. Screw the new oil filter into the housing until it is snug.
8. Replace the oil filter cap and tighten it until it is snug.
9. Remove the oil drain pan and dispose of the old oil and filter properly.
10. Add new oil to the engine through the oil fill cap, which is located on the passenger side of the engine block. Refer to your owner's manual for the recommended amount.
11. Check the oil level with the dipstick and make sure it is at the correct level.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks.
