1. Open the hood of your Lincoln Town Car.
2. Locate the air compressor. It is usually located on the front of the engine, near the top.
3. Check the air compressor for any visible damage. Look for cracks, leaks, or loose connections.
4. If you see any visible damage, you should have the air compressor inspected by a qualified mechanic.
5. If you do not see any visible damage, you can test the air compressor by following these steps:
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the air compressor.
- Connect a 12-volt power source to the air compressor directly. You can use a jumper cable with one jumper connected to the battery's positive terminal and the other connected to the terminal on the air compressor. Be sure the other negative lead that's connected to the negative connector of the battery.
- If the air compressor turns on, then it is working properly.
- If the air compressor does not turn on, then it is likely defective and should be replaced.
If it turns on for less than seven seconds then that means your pressure switch is at fault or your relay and possibly AC relay.
5. You can also test the air compressor by listening for it to turn on when you turn on the air conditioning. If you do not hear the air compressor turn on, then it is likely defective and should be replaced.
