1. Remove the door panel.
- Open the door.
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the door panel in place.
- Gently pry the door panel off the door, starting at the bottom and working your way up.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors for the power window switch and the door lock.
- Set the door panel aside.
2. Remove the window regulator.
- Locate the window regulator, which is the mechanism that raises and lowers the window.
- Remove the bolts that hold the window regulator in place.
- Disconnect the electrical connector for the window regulator motor.
- Remove the window regulator from the door.
3. Inspect the window regulator.
- Check the window regulator for damage. If the window regulator is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
- If the window regulator is not damaged, it may simply need to be lubricated.
4. Lubricate the window regulator.
- Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the gears and tracks of the window regulator.
- Work the window regulator up and down several times to distribute the lubricant.
5. Reinstall the window regulator.
- Reinstall the window regulator in the door.
- Connect the electrical connector for the window regulator motor.
- Replace the bolts that hold the window regulator in place.
6. Reinstall the door panel.
- Reattach the electrical connectors for the power window switch and the door lock.
- Gently snap the door panel back into place.
- Replace the screws that hold the door panel in place.
7. Test the window.
- Open and close the window several times to make sure that it is working properly.
If the window is still not working properly, there may be another issue with the window system. You may need to take your car to a mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.
