- Place a drain pan under the radiator/water pump.
- Locate and remove the petcock or drain plug to allow the coolant to drain.
2. Remove Serpentine Belt
- Locate the tensioner for the serpentine belt.
- Using the proper size wrench or pry bar, turn the tensioner to relieve the belt tension..
- With belt tension released you should be able to pry the serpentine belt and remove it.
3. Remove Fan Shroud
- Locate the fan shroud bolts/screws.
- Remove all the bolts/screws and remove the shroud assembly from the engine compartment.
4. Remove Water Pump Bolts
- Locate the bolts that hold the water pump to the engine block.
- Remove all the bolts and nuts.
5. Remove Water Pump
- Gently pry water pump assembly off the engine block.
- Take a look at the old gasket material and clean off the surface using a gasket scraper or wire brush.
6. Install Water Pump
- Put a thin coat of sealant on the gasket side of the water pump.
- Put another thin layer of sealant onto the mating service on the engine block.
- Place the water pump gasket onto the engine block and install the water pump.
- Torque the water pump bolts per specifications of the vehicle.
7. Reinstall Fan Shroud
- Reinstall the fan shroud.
- Install all bolts/screws and make sure its secured to the vehicle.
8. Reinstall Serpentine Belt
- Locate the serpentine belt tensioner.
- Using the proper size wrench or pry bar, turn the tensioner to relieve the belt tension.
- Place the serpentine belt into place around the proper pulleys and accessories.
- Slowly rotate the tensioner back and allow the tension to apply to the belt.
- Check to ensure the belt is aligned properly and all the grooves on the pulleys.
9. Refill Cooling System
- Remove the radiator cap.
- Reinstall the drain plug/petcock.
- Slowly add coolant to the designated mark line on the radiator reservoir
- Run engine for a few minutes and watch for any leaks in the cooling system.
- Check the coolant level and add more if needed.
