1. Prepare the vehicle. Park the vehicle on a level surface, and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely. Engage the parking brake, and chock the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Open the hood of the vehicle.
2. Locate the fan pulley. The fan pulley is located at the front of the engine, on the water pump. It is usually made of metal and has a series of grooves around the edge.
3. Remove the fan belt. Use a wrench to loosen the fan belt tensioner, then slide the belt off of the fan pulley.
4. Remove the fan shroud. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the fan shroud in place, then lift the shroud off of the engine.
5. Remove the fan clutch. Use a wrench to loosen the fan clutch nut, then remove the clutch from the water pump.
6. Remove the fan pulley. Use a wrench to loosen the fan pulley nut, then remove the pulley from the water pump.
Additional tips:
- If the fan pulley is stuck, you may need to use penetrating oil to loosen it.
- Be careful not to drop the fan pulley into the engine.
- If you are having difficulty removing the fan pulley, you may need to take the vehicle to a mechanic.
