1. Park the vehicle on level ground and allow the engine to cool down.
2. Open the hood of the vehicle.
3. Locate the engine oil dipstick. It is usually marked with a yellow handle.
4. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a paper towel.
5. Reinsert the dipstick all the way into the dipstick tube.
6. Pull out the dipstick again and check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
7. If the oil level is low, you will need to add oil to the vehicle. The oil pan is located underneath the engine. It is a large, metal pan that holds the engine oil.
8. To remove the oil pan, you will need to loosen the bolts that hold it in place. Be careful not to drop any of the bolts into the oil pan.
9. Once the bolts are loosened, you can remove the oil pan.
10. If you are replacing the oil pan, be sure to install a new gasket between the oil pan and the engine block.
11. Tighten the bolts that hold the oil pan in place.
12. Refill the engine with oil to the proper level.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
14. Check for any leaks from the oil pan. If there are any leaks, tighten the bolts until the leaks stop.
