To change the starter, you will need the following tools:
- Socket wrench set
- Extension bar
- Ratchet
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Pliers
Instructions
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Locate the starter. It is positioned on the driver's side of the engine, near the bottom.
3. Disconnect the electrical terminals from the starter. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the terminal connectors and then use pliers to remove the terminals.
4. Remove the bolts that hold the starter to the engine block. There are two bolts that hold the starter in place. Use a socket wrench with an extension bar to remove these bolts.
5. Remove the starter from the engine compartment. Once the bolts are removed, you can lift the starter out of the engine compartment.
6. Inspect the starter for damage. If the starter is damaged, you will need to replace it with a new one.
7. Install the new starter. To install the new starter, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old starter.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Once the new starter is installed, you can start the engine and check that the starter is working properly.
