- New transmission oil (check owner's manual for recommended type and amount)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
Instructions:
1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Crawl underneath the vehicle and locate the transmission oil drain plug. It is usually located on the bottom of the transmission pan.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug. Be careful not to spill any oil.
4. Use the wrench to loosen the drain plug and allow the old transmission oil to drain into the pan.
5. Once the old oil has drained completely, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
6. Locate the transmission oil fill plug. It is usually located on the side of the transmission pan.
7. Use the funnel to add new transmission oil to the transmission. Be careful not to overfill.
8. Check the transmission oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
9. Replace the dipstick and tighten it securely.
10. Lower the vehicle and start the engine. Let the engine run for a few minutes to circulate the new transmission oil.
11. Check for any leaks under the vehicle. If you see any leaks, tighten the drain plug or fill plug until the leak stops.
Note: It is recommended to change the transmission oil every 30,000 miles or every two years, whichever comes first.
