Tools and materials needed:
- Oil drain pan
- New oil pan gasket
- 10mm socket and wrench
- 14mm socket and wrench
- Pliers
- Hammer
Instructions:
1. Allow the engine to cool completely.
2. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
3. Place an oil drain pan under the oil pan to catch the draining oil.
4. Remove the oil drain plug using the 14mm wrench. Allow all of the oil to drain from the pan.
5. Remove the bolts securing the oil pan to the engine block using the 10mm socket and wrench.
6. Use the pliers and hammer to gently pry the oil pan from the engine block. Be careful not to damage the gasket or the oil pan.
7. Clean the mating surface of the engine block and the oil pan of any old gasket material.
8. Apply a thin layer of silicone sealant to the new oil pan gasket.
9. Position the new oil pan gasket on the engine block and carefully install the bolts.
10. Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern to evenly distribute the pressure.
11. Reinstall the oil drain plug.
12. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
