I have the warning light telling me that water in fuel filter on my 1994 diesel Peugeot 306. Do need to change if so can some one please tell where located?

Yes, you should change the fuel filter as soon as possible. Water in the fuel filter can cause the engine to run poorly and can eventually damage the fuel injector pump. There are two places the fuel filter on your Peugeot 306 could be located. It could be located under the hood in front of the engine or it may be located under the car near the fuel tank.

Change of Fuel Filter under the hood

To change the fuel filter located under the hood you will need the following tools:

- Fuel filter wrench

- Flat head screwdriver

- Replacement fuel filter

1. Disconnect the battery.

1. Locate the fuel filter.

2. Place a drain pan under the fuel filter.

3. Loosen the fuel line connections using a flare nut wrench.

4. Remove the fuel filter from the bracket using a fuel filter wrench.

5. Install the new fuel filter.

6. Tighten the fuel line connections.

7. Reconnect the battery.

8. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Change of fuel filter under the car

1. Locate the fuel filter.

2. Place a container to collect the diesel under the filter for draining fuel.

3. Open the fuel drain screw to drain the fuel. Let the fuel drain for a few minutes.

4. Close the fuel drain screw.

5. Remove the fuel filter by first loosening the clamp (1) that tightens the filter to the fuel pipe. Then by unhooking the other pipe (2) that carries fuel to the engine with the help of a flat-head screwdriver.

6. Position the new filter in place and refit the fuel return pipes in reverse order. Replace the filter O’rings if you change the filter on your own; they sometimes get trapped or damaged during disassembly and can thus cause leaks.

7. Use the hand pump on the top of the filter several times to purge the air from the circuit and fill it with fuel.

Remember to dispose of the old fuel filter properly.
