How to get a rotor off?

To remove a rotor, you will typically need the following tools and materials:

- Socket wrench or ratchet

- Socket that fits the lug nuts on your vehicle

- Breaker bar (if necessary)

- Jack

- Jack stands

- Pry bar

1. Loosen the lug nuts. Use the socket wrench or ratchet and socket to loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that has the rotor you need to remove. Be sure to loosen the nuts only slightly, just enough so you can remove them by hand later. Do this for each lug nut on this wheel.

2. Raise the vehicle. Use the jack to raise the vehicle until the tire with the rotor you want to remove is off the ground. Be sure to use jack stands to support the vehicle and ensure it is stable before proceeding.

3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel. Now you can remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.

4. Pry off the brake caliper. Use a pry bar to gently pry off the brake caliper. Be careful not to damage the caliper or the brake pads.

5. Remove the rotor retaining screw. There is usually a screw that holds the rotor in place. Remove this screw using the appropriate tool.

6. Pry the rotor off. Now you can use a pry bar to gently pry the rotor off the wheel hub. Be careful not to damage the rotor or any other components.

7. Clean the rotor. Once the rotor is removed, you can clean it using a wire brush or other suitable tool. This will help to remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the rotor.

Note: If the rotor is stuck and you are unable to pry it off, you may need to use a penetrating oil or lubricant to help loosen it up.
