1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Open the hood of the vehicle.
3. Locate the power steering pump. It is typically located on the front of the engine, near the top.
4. Find the power steering pump belt. It is the belt that runs from the power steering pump to the crankshaft pulley.
5. Loosen the adjusting bolt for the power steering pump. The adjusting bolt is located on the top or side of the power steering pump.
6. Use a wrench to turn the adjusting bolt counterclockwise to loosen it.
7. While holding the adjusting bolt steady with one wrench, use another wrench to turn the tensioning bolt clockwise. The tensioning bolt is located near the adjusting bolt.
8. Tighten the tensioning bolt until the power steering pump belt has about 1/2 inch of play.
9. Tighten the adjusting bolt to hold the tensioning bolt in place.
10. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
11. Check the power steering pump belt for proper tension. If the belt is too tight, loosen the adjusting bolt and turn the tensioning bolt counterclockwise slightly. If the belt is too loose, tighten the adjusting bolt and turn the tensioning bolt clockwise slightly.
12. Close the hood of the vehicle.
