- Base Timing: 0 degrees before Top Dead Center (BTDC)

- Initial Timing: 10 degrees BTDC

- Total Timing: 32 degrees BTDC

Setting Timing

1. Disconnect and plug the vacuum advance hose.

2. Connect a timing light to the number one spark plug wire and the negative battery terminal.

3. Start the engine and let it reach operating temperature.

4. Aim the timing light at the timing marks on the harmonic balancer.

5. Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt and turn the distributor until the timing mark aligns with the "0" mark on the timing scale.

6. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.

7. Reconnect the vacuum advance hose.
