1. Gather tools and materials:
- New fuel filter
- Fuel line disconnect tool
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Wrench
- Rags
- Safety glasses
2. Locate the fuel filter:
- The fuel filter on the 2003 GMC Envoy is located under the vehicle, near the fuel tank.
3. Disconnect the fuel lines:
- Use fuel line disconnect tool to disconnect the fuel lines from either side of the fuel filter.
- Be careful, as fuel may leak out.
- Use a rag to catch any spilled fuel.
4. Remove the old fuel filter:
- Use flat-head screwdriver to loosen the clamp holding the filter in place.
- Remove the old filter.
5. Install the new fuel filter:
- Insert new filter into the clamp.
- Tighten the clamp to hold the filter in place.
6. Reconnect the fuel lines:
- Reconnect fuel lines to the new filter.
- Make sure the lines are properly seated and secure.
7. Start the vehicle:
- Start the vehicle and allow it to run for a few minutes.
- Check for leaks around the fuel filter.
- If no leaks are found, you have successfully replaced the fuel filter.
Note:
Before starting this procedure, make sure the vehicle is turned off and the engine has cooled down. It is also important to relieve fuel system pressure before disconnecting fuel lines. Refer to your vehicle's owner manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
