1. Locate the fuel injection fuse in the fuse box, which is usually under the hood near the battery. The fuse may be labelled as "FI" or "INJ".
2. Pull the fuel injection fuse out of the fuse box using a fuse puller or needle-nose pliers. This will turn off the fuel pump and stop the flow of fuel to the engine.
3. Start the engine and let it run until it stalls. This will use up any remaining fuel in the fuel lines and relieve the pressure in the fuel system.
4. Open the fuel filler cap to allow air to enter the fuel tank. This will help to equalize the pressure inside the tank and reduce the risk of fuel spillage.
5. Locate the fuel filter, which is usually mounted on the underside of the vehicle near the fuel tank.
6. Loosen the fuel line clamps or connectors on both ends of the fuel filter using a wrench or pliers.
7. Remove the old fuel filter and install the new fuel filter. Make sure the new filter is installed in the correct direction, as indicated by the arrows on the filter housing.
8. Tighten the fuel line clamps or connectors.
9. Replace the fuel injection fuse in the fuse box.
10. Start the engine and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, the fuel filter has been successfully replaced.
