Where is starter located on 2007 MAZDA 6?

2007 MAZDA 6 - 3.0L

STARTER

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

2. Raise the vehicle.

3. Remove the front splash shield.

4. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube bracket bolt.

5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.

6. Remove the air intake duct bolt and remove the duct from the air cleaner housing.

7. Disconnect the following wire connectors from the starter motor terminals as appropriate.

>* Ignition Switch Wire (B)

>* Automatic Transmission Inhibitor Switch Wire (A)

>* Starter Motor Relay Wire (C)

8. Remove the positive battery cable nut and remove the cable from the starter motor terminal.

9. Remove the starter bracket nut.

10. Remove the two starter mounting bolts.

11. Remove the starter from the vehicle.

Installation

1. Install the starter to the engine, and install the two starter motor mounting bolts.

>* Tighten the starter motor mounting bolts to 44 ft. lbs.(59 N-m).

2. Install the starter bracket nut.

>* Tighten the starter bracket nut to 108 in. lbs.(12 N-m).

3. Install the positive battery cable to the starter motor terminal and install the nut.

>* Tighten the positive battery cable nut to 14 ft. lbs.(19 N-m).

4. Connect the wiring to the starter motor terminals.

5. Install the air intake duct and bolt to the air cleaner housing.

6. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.

7. Install the air cleaner outlet tube bracket bolt.

8. Install the front splash shield bolts.

9. Lower the vehicle.

10. Connect the battery negative cable.
