1. Make sure the engine is off and has been given enough time to cool down. The dipstick can give an inaccurate reading if the oil is too hot.
2. Open the hood of the car, and locate the oil dipstick. It is usually located near the engine oil filler cap.
3. Pull the dipstick out of the tube and wipe it clean using a rag or paper towel.
4. Insert the dipstick back into the tube until it stops.
5. Pull the dipstick out again and check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
6. If the oil level is low, add enough oil to bring it up to the "FULL" mark. Be careful not to overfill the engine with oil.
It is important to check the oil level regularly, as low oil levels can cause damage to the engine.
