Where is the micro filter on a BMW series 3?

There are 3 types of microfilters that your BMW series 3, depending on the year it was manufactured, may or may not have:

- Air microfilter

- Cabin air microfilter

- Fuel filter

*Air Microfilter*

The Microfilter of the engine, should it be equipped with one, is located in front of the air filter housing. To access it, you need to remove the engine air filter cover. On some variants of the engines, the microfilter may be located in the wheel well.

*Cabin Microfilter*

*Pre-2006 BMW Series 3*

- Open the glove box.

- Press the two black tabs with your hands and lower the glove box all the way down to access the cabin filter.

- You will see a round white disc covering a hole in the upper left corner of the glovebox's opening. Take the disc off.

- Remove the old cabin filter. It will slide to the left.

- Slide in a new cabin filter with the arrow facing up.

- Replace the round white disc.

- Raise the glovebox and close it.

*2006-2012 BMW Series 3*

- Open the hood of the car.

- Locate the cabin filter housing. On a right-hand drive BMW 3 Series, the cabin air filter housing will be on the far right side of the engine bay. On a left-hand drive vehicle, the cabin air filter housing will be located on the left side of the engine bay.

- Unlatch the cabin air filter housing cover and remove it.

- Remove the used filter.

- Install the new cabin filter. Make sure that the filter is installed with the arrow pointing in the direction of airflow.

- Replace the cabin air filter housing cover, snap it into place and close the hood.

*Fuel Microfilter*

The fuel microfilter is inside the fuel pump inside of the fuel tank accessible from the rear seats.
