- 3/8" socket wrench
- 1/2" socket wrench
- Torque wrench
- Flat-blade screwdriver
- Brake cleaner
- New brake pads
Instructions:
1. Remove the rear wheel:
* Place a block of wood or a chock behind the front tire to prevent the motorcycle from rolling.
* Loosen the rear axle nut with the 3/8" socket wrench.
* Lift up on the rear of the motorcycle and remove the rear wheel.
2. Remove the old brake pads:
* Use the screwdriver to pry the old brake pads out of the caliper.
*Inspect the brake caliper and rotor for wear or damage. Replace the caliper or rotor if necessary.
3. Clean the caliper and rotor:
* Spray the caliper and rotor with brake cleaner and wipe them clean with a rag.
* Inspect the brake caliper and rotor for leaks or damage. Replace the caliper or rotor if necessary.
4. Install the new brake pads:
* Place the new brake pads in the caliper.
* Slide the caliper back onto the rotor.
* Tighten the caliper bolts with the 3/8" socket wrench.
5. Replace the rear wheel:
* Place the rear wheel back on the motorcycle.
* Tighten the rear axle nut with the 3/8" socket wrench.
* Lower the motorcycle.
6. Test the brakes:
* Apply the front and rear brakes to make sure they are working properly.
* Repeat steps 1-6 for the other side.
