When the switch button fails how do you bypass motorcycle ignition wire?

WARNING! This is a temporary solution and should only be used as a last resort. Bypassing the ignition wire creates an electrical hazard that could lead to serious injury or damage to your motorcycle. Be sure to have the switch repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

To bypass a failed motorcycle ignition switch: Remove the seat of the motorcycle.

Locate the ignition switch. It is typically located on the right side of the handlebars.

Disconnect the wires from the ignition switch. There will typically be two or three wires connected to switch, depending on your motorcycle.

Connect the black wire to the black or brown wire. This is typically done using a T-tap or crimp connector.

Connect the red wire to the red wire.

Verify the connections are secure.

Test the ignition switch. Turn the key to the "On" position and see if the motorcycle starts.

Replace the seat.

Note: This procedure will only work if the ignition switch is the only thing preventing the motorcycle from starting. If the motorcycle still does not start, there may be another issue that needs to be addressed.
