How do you change a clutch on 1986 jeep Comanche?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- 10mm socket

- 12mm socket

- 13mm socket

- 15mm socket

- 17mm socket

- 19mm socket

- 22mm socket

- Breaker bar

- Ratchet

- Extension

- Flathead screwdriver

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Torque wrench

- Clutch disc

- Pressure plate

- Throw-out bearing

- Pilot bushing

- Transmission fluid

- Grease

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jack stands.

3. Remove the transmission crossmember.

4. Remove the driveshaft.

5. Remove the starter.

6. Disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch fork.

7. Remove the clutch fork.

8. Remove the pressure plate bolts and remove the pressure plate.

9. Remove the clutch disc.

10. Inspect the flywheel and resurface it if necessary.

11. Install the pilot bushing and grease it.

12. Install the clutch disc.

13. Install the pressure plate and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

14. Install the clutch fork and connect the clutch cable.

15. Install the starter.

16. Install the driveshaft.

17. Install the transmission crossmember.

18. Lower the vehicle.

19. Reconnect the battery.

20. Add transmission fluid.

Tips:

- Before removing the transmission crossmember, mark its position so that you can reinstall it in the same location.

- Be careful not to damage the flywheel when removing the clutch disc.

- Use a new clutch alignment tool to align the clutch disc and pressure plate.

- Tighten the pressure plate bolts in a criss-cross pattern to evenly distribute the force.
