1. Gather your tools and materials. You will need:
- A new air filter (check your owner's manual for the correct size)
- A Phillips-head screwdriver
- A clean cloth or towel
2. Open the hood of your car. Locate the air filter housing, which is usually located on the top of the engine. It will be a black plastic box with a hose attached to it.
3. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the screws that hold the air filter housing in place. There will typically be two or three screws.
4. Once the screws are loose, remove the air filter housing and set it aside. Be careful not to drop any of the screws.
5. Remove the old air filter from the housing. It will simply slide out.
6. Inspect the old air filter for dirt and debris. If it is very dirty, you may want to replace it more frequently.
7. Insert the new air filter into the housing. Make sure that it is seated properly.
8. Replace the air filter housing and tighten the screws.
9. Close the hood of your car.
Your air filter has now been replaced. Replacing the air filter regularly will help to keep your engine running smoothly and efficiently.
