2. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels. Do not remove the lug nuts completely.
3. Raise the vehicle using the jack and place jack stands under the frame. Make sure the vehicle is stable before proceeding.
4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels.
5. Locate the upper shock mount. It is located in the trunk or beneath the rear seat. Remove the nuts or bolts that hold the upper shock mount in place.
6. Remove the lower shock mount. It is located on the rear axle. Remove the nuts or bolts that hold the lower shock mount in place.
7. Use a pry bar to pry the shock loose from the upper and lower mounts. Be careful not to damage the shock or any surrounding components.
8. Install the new shock. Insert the new shock into the upper and lower mounts. Tighten the nuts or bolts that hold the shock mounts in place.
9. Reinstall the rear wheels and lug nuts. Tighten the lug nuts until they are snug.
10. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
11. Test the new shocks. Drive the vehicle over a bumpy road or press down on the rear of the vehicle to test the new shocks.
Note: If you do not have access to spring compressors, you can have the rear shocks replaced at a mechanic shop.
