1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air filter housing.
3. Locate the OPDS sensor on the intake plenum. It is a small, cylindrical sensor with a plastic connector.
Remove the OPDS sensor.
Use a 10mm socket to remove the retaining bolt from the OPDS sensor. Disconnect the connector from the OPDS sensor. Remove the OPDS sensor from the intake plenum.
Inspect the OPDS sensor.
Inspect the OPDS sensor for damage. If the sensor is cracked or broken, it will need to be replaced.
Clean the OPDS sensor.
If the OPDS sensor is not damaged, clean it with a soft cloth and some carburetor cleaner.
Reinstall the OPDS sensor.
Install the OPDS sensor into the intake plenum. Secure the OPDS sensor with the retaining bolt. Reconnect the connector to the OPDS sensor.
Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
Reset the ECU.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
2. Wait 15 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
4. Wait 10 seconds.
5. Start the engine.
Test the OPDS sensor.
Use an OBDII scanner to check for any OPDS sensor codes. If there are no codes, the OPDS sensor is functioning properly.
