Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent any electrical shocks while working on the starter.
2. Remove the starter cover. This is usually held in place by a few bolts.
3. Locate the starter. It is usually located on the bottom of the engine, near the transmission.
4. Disconnect the electrical connections to the starter. There will be a positive and a negative cable.
5. Remove the bolts that hold the starter in place. There are usually two or three bolts.
6. Remove the starter from the vehicle. Be careful not to drop it.
7. Install the new starter in the reverse order of removal.
8. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
9. Test the starter by starting the vehicle.
Here are some additional tips:
- If the starter is stuck, you may need to use a pry bar to gently pry it loose.
- Be careful not to drop the starter. It is a heavy piece of equipment and could cause serious injury if dropped on your foot.
- If you are uncomfortable working on your own vehicle, you can have the starter replaced by a qualified mechanic.
