How do you bleed the brakes on a cat fork lift?

Bleeding the Brakes on a Cat Forklift

Before you begin, make sure you have the following tools:

A wrench

A screwdriver

A bucket

DOT 3 brake fluid

1. Raise the forklift to its full height.

2. Locate the brake bleeder screws. They are typically located on the top of the brake calipers.

3. Use the wrench to loosen the bleeder screws.

4. Use the screwdriver to pry open the brake caliper bleed screw dust cover.

5. Attach a hose to the bleeder screw. The other end of the hose should be placed in a bucket.

6. Have a friend depress the brake pedal while you open the bleeder screw.

7. Allow the brake fluid to flow until it is bubble-free and has a consistent flow.

8. Repeat steps 5-7 for each brake caliper.

9. Once you have bled all of the brakes, check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder. Add fluid as needed.

10. Close the bleeder screws and dust covers when the brake system has been bled.

Tips:

Bleed the brakes in the following order:

1. Rear driver’s brake caliper bleeder screw

2. Rear passenger brake caliper bleeder screw

3. Front driver’s brake caliper bleeder screw

4. Front passenger brake caliper bleeder screw

• It is important to remove all of the air bubbles from the brake lines. If there are any air bubbles, the brakes will not work properly.

• Do not let the master cylinder run dry. If the master cylinder runs dry, it will damage the brake system.
