How does an automatic washing machine works?

Step 1: Loading and Adding Detergent

1. Open the washing machine door.

2. Place your clothes inside the drum.

3. Follow the detergent instructions provided by the manufacturer to add the correct amount of

detergent to the designated detergent dispenser drawer.

Step 2: Setting the Washing Cycle

1. Close the washing machine door securely.

2. Turn the cycle selector dial or press the corresponding button to choose the desired washing

cycle.

(Examples of cycles include "Normal, "Delicate," "Heavy-Duty," etc.).

Step 3: Water Supply and Temperature

1. The washing machine will begin to fill with water through an inlet valve.

2. Depending on the selected washing cycle, the machine will adjust the water temperature

accordingly by mixing hot and cold water (if your washing machine has this

capability).

Step 4: Washing and Rinsing

1. The drum will rotate back and forth (known as agitation), causing the clothes to move and

interact with the detergent-water mixture.

2. The machine may also utilize spinning cycles during the wash to further agitate the clothes.

3. Depending on the cycle, there might be multiple rinsing cycles after the wash to remove

detergent and cleaning solution.

Step 5: Spinning

1. Once the washing and rinsing cycles are complete, the washing machine will enter the

spinning phase to remove excess water.

2. The drum rotates at a high speed, forcing the water out through the holes in the drum and

draining it away.

Step 6: Drain and Final Spin

1. After the spinning cycle, the washing machine will drain any remaining water.

2. In some machines, there might be an additional gentle spin cycle to leave clothes

slightly damp for easier handling and reduced drying time.

Step 7: Unloading and Drying

1. Once the washing cycle is complete, the machine will stop, and you can open the door to

retrieve your clothes.

2. Remove the clothes from the washing machine and transfer them to a dryer or hang them

to air dry.

Remember that different washing machine models may have variations in their features, controls, and operation, so it's always a good idea to refer to your washing machine's user manual for specific instructions and guidelines.
